Veteran’s Day in America

Buck and Chuck were Navy Seabees,  Their dad was Navy Fleet.  Apparently VERY different.  Had to get some work done on the car before our trip next week..  I saw the cardiologist on Tuesday and he thinks I ‘m doing well.  Took care of some errands and went to a Veterans Day program at Meek High School, where Kim teaches.  

Today was the monthly “girl breakfast” with Teresa, Kim, Aimee and sometimes Olivia.  We’ve been doing this for over a year now.  Tomorrow is worship and start packing!!!!!!!

This week was rather quiet.  Buck went to the dermatologist and had a cancer removed from his neck.  It looks BAD with the stitches.  Teresa and I went to breakfast on Thursday and bought new flowers for Mother and Daddy.  I’m trying to eat later in the morning so I’m NOT STARVING at 10 a.m.  It would be helpful if I could sleep past 5:30 a.m.  

Tomorrow is potluck Sunday at church. We are taking a lasagna ~ something easy.  I have a cardiology appointment next week ~ not looking forward to the scales.  

Almost forgot to mention two weeks from today we will be in California for Jakob and Katie‘s wedding!!

It was a quiet week around here.  No doctor appointments ~ just day to day stuff like laundry and grocery shopping.  

On Monday Claire Ellen Willenbrecht will be 17.  I was there when Jennifer went to the hospital to deliver her.  I took Sarah to meet her.  I went to almost all of the birthdays until they turned eight.  After that they don’t seen to care as much if Magra is there.  Claire is a beautiful young woman.  I wish I was going to be there.  

 

After a week of being sick, today was a good day.  I finished a craft project and Buck let me help him with the doghouse roof.  Whatever that virus was knocked me for a loop for sure!  Gotta be feeling good for our trip, I’m assuming I will do most of the driving ~ and that will be A LOT.  I wanted to make this trip but not bam bam bam.  I wanted it to be a leisurely drive with sightseeing stops.  Something tells me that’s NOT going to happen.  

And now there is a war in Israel and threats in and to America.  What will the future hold?  I pray for peace and strength.  I pray to be brave for those that lean on me.

Almost Halloween…. Trunk or Treat is happening at church ~ we won’t do it because we don’t have children at home.  We SHOULD do it anyway just for fun.

Monday Buck saw his podiatrist, Tuesday we saw his urologist, and Wednesday he saw his dentist.  WHEW!  Last night he came down with a virus that kept him in the bathroom most of the night ~ when he wasn’t sleeping.

Today Buck mapped our drive to California next month.  I reserved our rooms along the way.  It’s going to be worth the drive to see Jakob and Katie get married.  

It’s been an okay week.  Monday was a doctor appointment in Birmingham ~ Thursday was a doctor appointment in Jasper.  Buck got a shot in his knee and he has been wired ever since ~ NOT GOOD… not sleeping and jittery.  I hope he NEVER gets a shot like that again.  

On the up side ~ we got some of the work done on the boat, part of the gutters cleaned, and I got to watch Briggs play soccer while chatting with Greyson on the sideline.   

Another Friday evening….

Missed a soccer match on Monday ~ Buck had a doctor appointment yesterday and a MRI today.  Will probably miss the soccer match tomorrow also.  

I have no words today.  Praying every day for my cousin Todd and his wife Denise and for me to be brave and strong for those who need me.  That’s about it for this week.

This week Buck had two doctor appointments and a trip to the lab for next week’s doctor appointment.  I’ve been driving him because his right knee is hurting.  He has an appointment with an orthopedic guy in a couple of weeks.  Until then he will wear a knee brace that he borrowed from ME.

I have been busy with other activities ~ mowing the grass,  dipping a dead squirrel out of the pool, doing laundry, AND cancelling our flight and one hotel for the trip we have coming up in November.  Jakob and Katie are getting married!!!! Everything was set until THE KNEE…. Now we are going to drive (which is what I wanted to do any way but that’s a whole other thing).

Today we met Jennifer and her friend, Kelli, for lunch in Florence.   Kelli lives in Tennessee now and Jennifer came down to visit her.  Florence is about halfway between there and here.  It was a good day.

 This week was busy and slow and busy….

Buck had two doctor appointments this week.  I drove him to Princeton for one of them.  Dr. Mendelssohn also works at St. Vincent’s so we are waiting for him to say he is moving ALL of his practice there.  We went to worship on Wednesday and I did the usual ~ laundry, cleaning, cooking.

Today I went out to the pool to remove the ladder.  Buck came out to “help” by telling me how I was doing it wrong.  Tomorrow we are going to a 7 year old socceer match ~ yea!  Seven year olds are a hoot to watch.

Topher is coming to Jasper tonight and while Kim mentioned meeting for lunch I suggested breakfast since we won’t be here at lunchtime.  She will let us know where he wants to go.  He is a busy young man right now ~ senior year ~ applying to medical school ~ socializing.

Next week we are going to meet Jennifer in Tennessee ~probably for lunch.  She is coming to visit a friend and how can we pass up a quick visit?  I want to spend the night ~ Buck not so much…. We’ll see.   

 Alright, here I am.  It’s been a week of doctor appointments.  I saw Dr. Bivona on Tuesday, Buck saw Dr. Karassi on Wednesday, and today was mammogram day.  Doesn’t all of that sound fun??  NOT

Monday was Skoot’s birthday and we went to their house for cake and ice cream.  I made a banana pudding for Sunday’s pot luck and they took the leftovers home with them (thank goodness).  

Let’s see…. I’ve paid bills, gone to Walmart, gone to CVS, and gone to worship.  I also worked outside and did laundry.  I REALLY need to rethink my activities!  

Maybe I’ll have something interesting to say next week.

Today is the first of September 2023.  It’s been awhile since I’ve done this.  We had a LOOOOONG day today.  It is almost 9 p.m. but it feels like it should be 11 or so.  Talked with Jennifer today ~ we missed our usual Thursday call yesterday.  Maybe this is the start of something new…. Again.   I’ll try to blog on Fridays ~ a round up of the week.  See you then?

Monday at Mother’s and home to watch (listen to) Alabama football.  I know there are people who are glued to their televisions but I really don’t care.  Am I allowed to say that in Alabama?  Anyway…. Roll Tide y’all.

Whatever happened to blogging?  Can I bring it back to life?  Today we took Greyson and Briggs home.  They came yesterday for New Year’s Eve.  Because we couldn’t pick them up until after my “shift” at Mother’s, they were with us for less than a whole day.  But at least it was a GOOD visit.  We laughed, played games, shot fireworks, and loved each other.  

 

 Last day of a three day run at Mother's.  She is sleeping a lot and eating a little.  Kim is leaving Saturday for a visit with Jennifer and fam.  Wishing I was going with but ~ I'm not.  Both of Lisa's boys had baseball games this week but were rained out.  Next week is Spring Break so no games.  Would love to have them come stay with us but I'm sure it is too late to get on their calendars LOL.  Buck has an appointment with Dr. Saab today ~ cardiologist at Princeton.  I have an appointment with him on April 1.  That's about all I have for today....

 I got my second Covid vaccine on Tuesday so I spent Wednesday sleeping.  Today is Thursday and I feel fine ~ no temperature.  Yea!!

Heart Walk is today!  I logged over fifteen hours of activity.  My goal was ten hours.  So I can say ~ been there, done that, got the tee shirts!

Another good day.  I was able to get outside in the fresh air ~ not as much as the last time but still enjoyable.  Buck is not sleeping well.  I don't know how to help him.  He gets started scrolling though Pinterest or YouTube and the next thing he knows it's 3 a.m.  I can't stay up with him ESPECIALLY when I have to be at Mother's every other day.  

Mother went to bed in September and hasn't gotten up since.  There were days I thought it may be her last but now it seems she may outlast all of us.   

Here we are on a Thursday.  I've walked four days this week and it is only day five so I'm doing good.  My Heart Walk is next weekend.  I'll do it alone like I did the Alzheimer Walk.  

Today we worked outside and it was wonderful!  I think my brain needed the fresh air and the physical activity.

Today is Sunday ~ a new week ~ a new beginning.  What should I do this week to make it a good week?  We went to worship this morning and to lunch with Kim, Skoot, and Jakob.  I've decided to listen to David for the lesson and not for the man.  That will have to do for now.

I will be at Mother's Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week.  Buck wants to start tilling in the garden so we'll be working on that.  I NEED to walk every day in preparation of a 5k next month.
