Happy Birthday Arie and Shaw!

Today is our son-in-law's birthday. Arie was born and grew up in Wyoming. He and Jennifer met at the University of Wyoming. He is an engineer. He snowboards, rides a motorcycle, and is the father of our granddaughters. He is very "mental". He thinks things through, examines all the angles, works out a plan and does what ever task is before him. He is a good man.
Happy Birthday Arie!
Go Broncos?
Today is also Shaw Panter's birthday. He is 13 today! I haven't known Shaw very long but he seems like a good kid. He plays video games, gives good hugs, texts me at random times and has had a rough year with the lose of his grandmother and a favorite cousin. I'm wishing him the best of days with many more to come. I hope I know you for a very long time.
Happy Birthday Dawg!
And Roll Tide!

It's a ROAD trip!

Buck and I are leaving tomorrow for a visit with Jennifer and fam. Arie's birthday is on Friday and Sarah's is next Tuesday. There's going to be a "water" party on Saturday so I packed my water guns. I'm excited to make this trip with Buck. He hasn't been on a vacation for quite some time and it will be good for both of us. We are going to stop over in Fort Smith and visit some of his friends on the trip out then come back by way of Springfield and visit his aunt Grace.
A tisket, a tasket ~ it's a birthday basket!
Buck's suitcase is empty
(He usually waits til the last minute)
We have some snacks
Even Buck is "excited"?

Lisa is coming to stay at the house while we are away and take care of the dogs since Kim and fam are on a road trip as well. Pray for good weather and "sane" drivers. I'm sure there will be things to tell when we get back. Check back on Friday and next Tuesday for birthday postings.

Piece of Quiet?

Remember the days before cell phones. The days before cordless phones? If you weren't in the house ~ you missed the call. You didn't have an answering machine OR the person calling was one of those "I don't leave messages" people ~ you missed the call. If the person calling you didn't get an answer they would (A) call back later (B) jump in the car and come over to the house or (C) write you a letter.
Now if I wallk outside I carry a phone. If I go to town, I'm packin' the cell. I have a bluetooth so I can talk and drive legally.
Technically mine is a "red"tooth.
I've decided to shut it down for a part of each day just to have a piece of quiet. Does that make me UNAmerican? UNsocialable? UNpolitically correct? NOPE ~ it makes me sane. Quiet is good for the soul, the brain, and the body.
My lonely mailbox.
Don't get me started on writing REAL letters!
Thanks for reading. Big hug ~ kiss kiss

M-m-m-m Apple Pie

We have two apple trees in the back yard. The first summer there were NO apples. Last summer there were apples but they were eaten by the deer in the neighborhood or simply hung there until they fell off on the ground (not great when mowing underneath). This summer Buck has been "taste testing" the apples as they have grown and ripened. (Lisa's dog, Riley, even eats them occasionally) Yesterday, he - Buck not Riley -picked twelve he thought worthy of an apple pie. This morning I baked. I have an apple peeler, corer, slicer that I borrowed from Mother and Daddy but my apples were not perfectly round and didn't want to fit on the thing correctly. So, I peeled them, cored them and sliced them. The smell was wonderful and I am trying to resist the temptation of having a slice before Buck gets home. . . .Sure hope he's early!
Apples with sugar mixture
Not exactly "pretty" is it?
I may not look like Betty Crocker . . .
But I can bake an apple pie!

Happy Birthday Teresa!

Today is Teresa's birthday.
Love ya sis!
Teresa is the youngest sister and likes to "remind" Wanda and me that we are OLDER so in honor of her 50th birthday. . .
Oops! I almost forgot her gift!
Just a little 'sumthing'
In the driveway of her job
(Ridgeview Health Care)
At the traffic light on Airport Road
(Ziggy is her "stripper name")
The black flowers were from Wanda
Mission accomplished
Mother and Daddy's front yard

The face is saying "OH NO"
On the other side of the driveway.
(same message on each side of sign)
Teresa and "friend" Jimmy
Who gave her a cake
That's all folks!

Take me out to the ballgame....

Waiting his turn at bat
He can pitch
Can he hit?
Yes he can!
He can run
Go Topher Go!
He can field
Topher played baseball this season. He started when he was a "tee-baller". This season, he went on to the seven year old All Star tournaments. Regionals were in Adamsville and State was in Gardendale (4th of July weekend). If love is measured by sweat ~ he should have "smelt" the love that weekend from the parents and grandparents (Lisa even made it to one game). He is a good player and we enjoyed watching him. He and Jakob are traveling to Mississippi State for a baseball camp. Skoot will be going with them, along with Poppy (their other grandfather). Kim is working this week but she is counting on Skoot to document everything with their camera.

Summer is half over and Buck and I are looking forward to a trip to Colorado for Sarah's 5th birthday. He wants to come back by way of Springfield so he can check in on Grace. I'm sure there will be blogging to do after that trip.

Happy Birthday Kim!

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday dear Worm,
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy birthday to you Kim! We love you a lot! Looking back I remember a little girl going to the beach and skiing behind the boat ~ waving at us without fear. (who really knows what is in the water at Smith Lake?) Now I see a beautiful woman who still enjoys the beach, willing to try snowboarding and smiling when you fell ~ without fear. (glad you didn't break anything!) We are proud of you and the woman you have become.

Veteran’s Day in America Buck and Chuck were Navy Seabees,  Their dad was Navy Fleet.  Apparently VERY different.  Had to get some work done...
