Tournament in Anniston

Topher played in his last tournament, for this season, last Saturday. It was in Anniston ~ about two hours away. I took the following photos with my phone. . . forgot the camera. Topher played catcher, which is exciting! He was nasty by the end of the game what with the dust being kicked up by runners and him sliding into bases and such.
Fog on the river on Corridor X
Kim was smart and wore a cap.
I, on the other hand, got a bit of sun on my face.
Jakob was "excited" to be there.

Scrabble with Mother

We usually play Scrabble on Mondays when Teresa is awake and she can join in. Yesterday she left for Will's house at 6:30. It was so windy and chilly, Mother and I decided to play without her. It was the "Thursday Smack down!"
Mother in "concentration" mode
What to do? What to do?
Gotta stay away from triple
set up ~ Mother pounced on those!
Our finished board.
Nicely spread ~ some good words.
We were tied a couple of times.
Then I would get a good word
only to be "smacked down"
After we finished and Mother called Teresa to see where she was on her journey (actually, I think she called to tell her about our game) we had sandwiches from Arby's. It was a good day. Teresa made it to Fort Smith without incident.
Later I went to pick up Buck's medicines and later still to Topher's soccer match. Buck went back to the doctor yesterday. He got 3 shots ~ a Z-pac ~ some new cough syrup, and a nebulizer. He declares there must be caffeine in some of the medicine because he didn't get to sleep until 3 this morning. His viral infection has turned into a bacterial infection. Doctor B told him he is in "bad shape". Not exactly what you want to hear!
Have a good day ~ kiss kiss!

No school

The boys had time to spend the night with us Monday. They had a day off from school thanks to Christopher Columbus. Tuesday was Parent/Teacher conference day and Kim was the only one that had to be there so I jumped on the chance to have them stay with us.
Sadly, Topher woke the house around 2 a.m. with an ear ache and asked to go home. Kim took him to the doctor first thing yesterday and dropped him off here on her way to work. He has an ear infection ~ got drops and antibiotics. He told him he could play if he felt like it so WE DID.
Topher and I got a volley going with
the badminton birdie
while Jakob rode down the hill
hilarious!
He didn't fall.... he was rollin'
got up covered in bits of grass
but it was fun
We played video games and online games, watched a little TV, and had homemade milk shakes. It was a good day . . . . til Skoot came TOO SOON to pick them up. ;-)

Happy Birthday Wanda!

Happy Birthday to you
Wanda Lee Panter Kehler
Although we are far apart
You are always in my heart
I love you, Sis!
Me and Wanda ~ Easter.
The suits were pink with white trim.
The purse was also pink.
Me, Daddy, and Wanda
I do believe we are both barefoot!
She would LOVE to be that tan now!
Maybe she doesn't play outside enough
these days?

Chick-Fil-A mints

I don't know about you, but a trip to Chick-Fil-A just isn't complete without a mint (or two or ten) They have those nice buttery ones that melt in your mouth.
Speaking of mouths.... Check out Jakob's braces. If you remember the photo from when he first got them, you can already see a difference. He changed the bands to orange and black this visit for Halloween and Thanksgiving. He is a handsome young man, isn't he? We were at Topher's soccer match and the sun was making his blonde hair glow. (or is that just a Magra's point of view??)

Mother Monday

Mondays are Mother Days. Teresa and I do chores around her house then we usually go out for lunch or one of us goes and picks up something. Today was CLEANING day. We started by cleaning the attic. There were some interesting things up there and a few that make you wanna say "WHY??"
This is the pile that was TOO much for the garbage today.
If you look closely you will see a toilet tank ~ WHY?
Did Daddy think he would use it again?
These two bags contain pillows like you get from the hospital and take home when you check out never to be used again but "HEY we paid for them we are taking 'em home, right??"

These items went to my house.
A few baskets, four coolers, an unused fishing pole.
Don't ask what I plan to do with them.
All that's left on the shelves in the attic
two lonely toys that belonged to Will.
Mother's canner and a couple of pots
and two popcorn tins filled with Hot Wheels
(also belonging to Will)
After we finished the attic I vacuumed and Teresa dusted the whole house and she mopped the kitchen. Then we went to Chick Filet for lunch and back to Mother's for a game of Scrabble ~ which she won! OH yeah, forgot to mention, Teresa fell flat on her backside coming down the steps with the toilet tank but didn't tell anyone UNTIL I fell outside going up the back steps. (Then she was okay admitting she is a klutz, too)

A day off?

Buck has been sick with a viral infection for the last few days. Wonder of wonders ~ he took the day off yesterday. We have SEVERAL projects around the house but yesterday was house washing day ~ HURRAH! Buck applied the "soap" to the outside of the house. Then we waited for the required five minutes. Tick-Tock.....Tick-Tock
After I power washed it ~ LOOK!
Our house really is yellow after all!
Okay, not REALLY a day off. I also mowed the yard yesterday and it looks SO much better. I think I could've bailed some of it for hay. I don't like it when it is that tall but we haven't had much rain lately and I didn't want to kill it. Hopefully it will survive.
According to a study at Florida State University, drinking 40 ounces of CAFFEINATED coffee a day may prevent memory loss and reduce your risk of Alzheimer's by suppressing the production of a protein that is thought to cause the disease. I can't wait to tell Buck!! (Downside ~ too much can interfere with sleep and trigger heart palpitations and dehydration)

New Ink .... maybe

I've been looking for the "right" butterfly to represent Mother. She has always been one to "hover". You know the type "Can I get you anything?" "Do you need a pillow?" "What are you doing?" that sort of thing. I kind of like this image ~ what do you think?

Veteran’s Day in America Buck and Chuck were Navy Seabees,  Their dad was Navy Fleet.  Apparently VERY different.  Had to get some work done...
