Greyson and I did the Walk to End Alzheimer's and I had so much fun with him this year.  He played the games they had set up, we ate cotton candy, did our walk, and got a popsicle.  He is a trouper for sure and we walked a while, stopped for a drink of water, walked some more.

This past Saturday I did the Breast Cancer Awareness 5K by myself.  I did not give up AND I managed to do it in under an hour (55. 04 minutes).

Today we went to the orthopedic doctor for Buck's shoulder.  He got a steroid shot and a set of exercises.  We will revisit him in six weeks to discuss any changes ~ good or bad.

Sitting in the library while my apps update.  I went to see an orthopedic today.  Looks like I will be getting a new knee after the first of the year ~ yea!  It has bothered me for a year now so, I guess it is time.
In other news,  Greyson and I are signed up for the Walk to End Alzheimer's this month.  Thankful Dr. Vague put a shot in my knee.  I am also signed up for the Breast Cancer Walk next month.... we'll see how the first one goes before I get too excited about the second.
I will be flying to Colorado in October for Claire's birthday and again in December for Emma's.  Two more good reasons not to have surgery yet.

The middle of August....let's catch up....
Buck had a check up with his urologist ~ go back in a year.  Jakob turned 18!!!  Our first grandchild ~ wow!  Stayed with Briggs for a day because he is in "isolation" until they can find out what is going on with him.  Greyson came for a couple of nights sleep over and didn't want to go home (that pulled on my heart). Briggs will be one on the 29th!!
Jennifer's girls start school this week.  Kim's boys start TODAY.  Greyson will go back in September.
Buck has a check up with his endocrinologist this month so I need to write down all of his numbers from his meter.

I am going to start walking again because I will be doing the Alzheimer's two mile walk next month.  I also have a check up next month so I will get lab work done on the 29th.  Wish me luck....

First day of August!  So what's happened?

Jennifer and her children came last month for a week.  We swam, braided string, painted rocks, went to VBS a couple of nights, saw Despicable Me 3, and Jennifer, Kim, and I went to a Tim Hawkins show.  It was all good.

This month?

Tomorrow I am flying to Colorado for Sarah's birthday (13).  She's having a few friends over to help her celebrate.  I'll be back on Saturday ~ have to get back to you on how I like the short visit.  If all goes well, I may try it again for Claire and Emma birthdays.

Next week Jakob will be 18!!!  He is going to the beach with family.  His gift will be his bank.  I have one for each of the grandchildren and have decided 18 is a good birthday to give it to them.  He is the reason I started them.  I would say "you need some money" and he would say "no, I'm good" so I made him a "I don't need any money ~ money" jar.

Briggs will be one this month.  He will be having a party.  Haven't come up with a gift for him yet.  He is going to three different doctors next week for testing.  They can't seem to find what is wrong with him ~ he wheezes and coughs.... keep you posted.

School will be starting soon for all those old enough to go.  I will be closing the pool in a couple of weeks.  Got grass to mow and a house to clean....

Wow!  It's summer and I almost let that slip by!
Let's see.... what's been happening?  Well, I helped Teresa clean at Mother's (because she gets it SO dirty) I mowed the grass (because it just keeps growing), and Kim had knee surgery (because she tore her ACL)
I went to see Dr. Wesley, Buck saw Dr. Karassi and Dr. Bivona.... Oh, and I had my yearly mammogram.  We do live an exciting life, don't we??
'Member when we went to the beach "for my birthday" and then it wasn't?  Last week after Kim's surgery we went to Guntersville because Buck wanted to and he was happy.  We watched Topher play baseball on Saturday ~ three games ~ it was great until we headed home and Buck was convinced we were going the wrong way (that happened on the trip up there too).
Anyway...
We made it and we have almost survived another week or "happy retirement".

Kim's birthday is coming up next Saturday and Jennifer will be coming with her girls in a couple of weeks.  I want to go see Greyson and Briggs....  working on that one.  Until next time

Memorial Day ~ last Monday in May ~ what to do what to do.
We are going to Kim's for lunch ~ unusual.  I am going to get in the pool and clean some more.  It is suppose to rain so ~ fun times all around.
Gotta get the pool ready so I can "work on my tan" cause, you know EVERYONE wants to see THAT.  Saving money so I can get a couple of tattoos but don't want to get them during swimming season.  Should have enough by the time I close it down in the fall.
Hoping to get Greyson some this summer and POSSIBLY Briggs ~ two make me a little nervous.  Haven't taken care of two little people since my own were small.  Jennifer and her girls will be here in July for a week so that will be fun.  Activities will be based on how Jennifer and Kim are feeling. Jennifer has hip issues and Kim has a bad knee so a lot of walking is probably out of the question ~ like the zoo or McWane center.
Buck is still working on his sticks.  I've got a TON of sticks and leaves to pick up AGAIN after Saturday's rain and wind before I can mow this week.  Need to figure out how to put new blades on the mower ~ that would make it a lot easier.
Well, time for oatmeal, coffee, and bible reading.

Monday ~ heading to Mother's in a bit to help clean her house.  Not sure why.... she doesn't really get it dirty.  When Teresa and I leave she will take a nap and hopefully feel like going out with me today. She hasn't been out of her house since a week ago yesterday.  
Trying to get the pool opened but we have a leak on the pump and I can't get it to stop.  Buck will be forced to help me OR I will have to call someone to come do it.
School is out for Greyson and I'm hoping he can come spend some time with us soon.  That will all hinge on Mother and how she is feeling and how much time I have to give her.  
Sarah and Claire will be out of school Friday and Jakob and Topher will go a day here and there this week until graduation on Friday.
Emma and Briggs aren't in school yet.

We had a trip to Gulf Shores last week and it went about the way I thought it would.  I didn't make it out onto the sand but we DID go to a seafood place to eat TWICE (yea?). Got a chance to spend a little time with Topher on his birthday, saw Jakob run, and watching Buck fish off that pier I've been hearing about for months.
On to a new week ~ right?
Today I will do the Mother/Teresa Monday and then this evening we get to watch Greyson play in his last tee ball game of the season.  It is such a joy to watch him ~ it makes Monday something to look forward to.  Tomorrow I'm getting my eyes checked and hopefully we will get back to buying groceries once a week.  It's been a little here and there since my trip to Dallas.  I sat down yesterday and mapped out a plan for myself.... I'll let you know if it works.

Here we are ~ Tuesday May 2, 2017
Buck had an appointment with an endocrinologist yesterday.  He told him to take his shot in the evening and wrote him a new prescription with a sliding scale dependent on his "number".
Today I will be doing Mother Monday since I went with Buck to the doctor yesterday.  She will have a couple of errands and we will get lunch.  Then I will be coming back to the house to work in the yard ~ so many twigs were blown down Sunday when we had rain.
Heading to Gulf Shores on Thursday ~ supposed to be my birthday present ~ that's all changed now.  Jakob is running in the state track meet so we will go see him.  Buck wanted to stay on the lake in Gulf Shores State Park so no laying on the beach.  We will probably go eat with Retta and Celeste.... and we are only going to be there until Saturday.  I may not even pack a swimsuit ~ I mean, why bother, right?

Here we are ~ Friday April 21.  I left Alabama on Thursday, April 13 and drove to Dallas (Grapevine actually). On Friday the 14th I met the Windsor L2L team a the Gaylord Texan ~ that was awesome to see!  The girls did well for their first time out ~ Sarah got second in speech, both got finalist in Songs of Praise, and their puppet show WON the seventh grade division.  On Monday, Kim and I drove back to Alabama.

Tuesday morning VERY EARLY I drove to Calera to help with Greyson and Briggs.  I had forgotten how tired little people can make me ~ but loved every minute of it .... well maybe NOT the stinky diapers.  I got to see Greyson's school and on Thursday before I left we had a little one on one at Burger King ~ ice cream and playground.

When I got back to our house last night Buck had bought KFC so I didn't have to cook ~ yea!

Today I am running errands for Mother, picking up some medicine at CVS, sitting at the library (at this time), and MAYBE going to watch Jakob run.  He has a two day event so I'm hoping to make it to one of them.

Tomorrow is Greyson's birthday party and that will end out week....

Monday and I'm up and ready to get the week going!  I'll be driving Mother today and going to Walmart for a few things for my Dallas trip.  Tomorrow we will get groceries for the house, the car serviced, and watch Greyson play tee ball.  I forgot his cap on Saturday so I already have it in the car to take to the game tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a good week ahead and enjoyed the weekend just past.  We had Greyson with us for a couple of nights and it was wonderful.  He loves to play outside and that was great for me.  We kicking a ball around and went for a walk to see the goats that live down the road.
He is also a good builder (knock 'em down) so we did that and read books and watched a couple of movies ~ one way to get him to be still and relax before bed.  We always did that when Jakob and Topher would come spend the night with us.  They don't do that anymore ~ too big ~ too many other things going on.  
It may be Tuesday of next week before I post again.  Monday I will be driving.... and then Tuesday I will be helping with Greyson and Briggs.... so it may be Friday....  a Magra needs to rest sometimes.  :-)

Here we are on a rainy Monday morning at 5:15 a.m.  Why am I awake?  Who knows....
So, what are your plans for the week?  Mondays are one of the days I drive Mother around ~ not sure she'll go out today because of the rain.

We are having a gospel meeting at Sixth Avenue Church of Christ with a very dynamic speaker ~ David Shannon ~ until Wednesday night ~ 7 p.m. each evening 

Tuesday Jakob is supposed to run ~ not sure where yet.  Thursday Greyson has a ballgame AND we get to bring him home with us!!  Alas, we have to return him on Saturday.

Good morning!
Last Monday of March and we survivied!!  Sarah, Claire, and Greyson are out of school this week for Spring Break.  I know we won't see Sarah and Claire but we are hoping to see Greyson.  Buck has a new "issue" with his diabetes.  We are waiting to hear from a specialist and until then everything is pretty much on hold.  I'll keep you posted....
Since it is Monday, I will be driving Mother today.  We are going to take new flowers out to Daddy and then have lunch.  Teresa will be with us today....
Time to get myself up and moving ~ those dishes from yesterday aren't going to wash themselves.

It's another beautiful day in Alabama!  We are having the usual spring like weather that consists of warm sunny days followed by windy cold rainy days.  One of the reasons people stay sick a lot this time of year.  Also, if people would stay home when they are sick instead of insisting they go to work, school, shopping, whatever there would not be as much spread around, yes?

So, what's on your agenda?  I am going with Buck to the cardiologist today.  It's a 2 p.m. appointment so WHO KNOWS when we will finish.  He usually likes to have them early and get it over with but due to some scheduling rearrangement ~ here we are.  Tomorrow I will take Mother to have her taxes done ~ shouldn't there be a time when you DON'T have to do that??  The rest of the week is sort of blurry right now :-)

Here we are again ~ Monday

I did my usual Monday thing ~ drove Mother to do her errands and went to lunch with her and Teresa.  Got home and Buck was eating his lunch but he was planning to go to town.  I told him to give me an hour of quiet and I would go with.  Being retired is turning out to be TIRING!!

Jakob has another meet this week ~ hopefully it won't be freezing cold.  Greyson starts games on the 20th so we are going to be busy this month.  I love it!!

Tuesday is grocery shopping.  I used to do it first thing in the morning but now that Buck goes with me we do it on his schedule.... later.  He doesn't like self check but I do so since I'm the one that does it ~ we self check (Point for me)

February is almost over and March is starting to blow in.... 

Greyson will be playing tee ball soon and Jakob will start outdoor track. 

So what's on my list for next month?  Watching Greyson play and Jakob run ~ of course!  I would also like to start working toward RUNNING a 5k with the hope of doing a half marathon.   (That's just between us cause nobody thinks I can do it)

Buck would like to go to Gulf Shores and try some fishing but I can't get him to settle on a date OR a place.... so that's up in the air right now.

I've decided to go social media free on Monday.  It is nice ~ no checking in all day to see if someone has liked what I posted or if someone has posted something SO important that I NEED to see it RIGHT NOW!  

I know most people make New Year's resolutions but I tend to be a work in progress all year so I rethink my objectives all through the year.  I try to look at the month ahead and add to or take out things on my "to do" list.

Good morning!
Hope you are up and well.  We are doing okay here.  It is Sunday so we will be going to worship ~ picking up Mother on the way because Teresa is sick.  I will do laundry this afternoon while Buck watches the pre pre game show for the super bowl, the news, the pre game show, the news, and the super bowl, then the news.

Today I'm going to sit down and wrap my head around our taxes ~ getting those done soon.  I also plan to look at a REAL plan to get myself up and moving more.  Suggestions welcomed.

Happy February!!!  The LOVE month!  It is also time to get our taxes done, Buck's check-up with his cardiologist, AND

Most important this month ~ Lisa's birthday.  Lisa is our youngest daughter.

Here it is ~ the sad truth ~ I've been a bum ~ haven't been on the treadmill.  I have been trying to tell myself to go DO IT but then I sit down in the living with Buck who has been sitting ALOT since he's been sick with the tv on and the lights off.  It's hard to get motivated in the dim light of the news channel.

I've decided to try it again.  Maybe I shouldn't tell anyone ~ that way, no one but me is disappointed, right?

I've been thinking a lot about social media also.  I have Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.  Just recently, I "unfriended" a few people.  Why have them on there if you have them hidden, right?  Now, what to do next?  Suggestions?

Here we are ~ the eleventh day of January 2017!  Wow!  Hope your year is going as planned.  Mine took a slight detour when I got hit with the flu.  Aren't flu shots supposed to take care of that?  Guess mine ran out?  Anyway, I am on the road to recovery and back on the treadmill.  Taking things slow because I have a bad knee and because that's just how I roll.....

Buck is down with the flu and when I say down and mean DOWN.  He has been sicker than me and seems like his is going to hang around longer than mine.  He fell in the middle of the night last week - that was scary!

Time to sign up for 5ks everywhere.  I keep getting emails and have even got a couple of calls.  I know I will do the one for Heart (Buck), Dementia (Daddy), and Breast Cancer (Wanda).  I would LOVE to be able to jog them ~ I'm not saying a flat out run to the finish but a decent jog.  That's what I'm working on...
